We are pleased to announce that our 2015 Green Valley Pinot Noir, Devoto Garden Vineyard, has been awarded a double-gold in the highly competitive $36-$40 Pinot Noir category at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. While we generally take all competition results with a grain of salt, it is satisfying to be recognized in this particular competition as it is (a) in our own backyard, and (b) it is the largest competition of American wines in the world, with 6,960 entries from 35 states across the country. The 2017 Pinot On The River Festival is this Sunday, October 22nd, on the Healdsburg Plaza, from noon to 4pm. Thankfully Healdsburg was spared from the recent fires. In an effort to return to some semblance of normalcy, the organizers are moving forward as planned, with an understanding that some wineries will not be able to attend and that a lot of Bay Area folks will not make it. Our 2016 Russian River Chardonnay will go out this week to all of our Summer Whites club members. One of our most popular wines, this vintage will likely go quickly. As some of you may recall, the winter of 2016-2017 was wet and chilly. Our secondary ferment (aka, the MLF or malo-lactic fermentation, where malic acid is converted into lactic acid by a lactobacillus bacteria) stopped about 85% of the way through due to colder temperatures in the cellar.
