2011 Russian River Pinot Noir
The 2011 Wait Cellars Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was made from 100% hand-picked and hand-sorted Pinot Noir fruit from California’s Russian River AVA. This wine is a 2/3—1/3 blend of the Pommard Pinot Noir clone from the Flanagan Vineyard and the Dijon 828 Pinot Noir clone from the Devoto Garden Vineyard. 2011 was a cool to mild, wet year with a particularly wet spring. Yields were down at Flanagan Vineyard, on Starr Road west of Santa Rosa, and mildew pressure high. We harvested in the third week of September, before the rains, but catching some Labor Day heat. We think the ripe, luxurious dark cherry flavors of the Flanagan Pinot set up nicely against the mineral zip and structure of Devoto Garden.
We made only 75 cases of this delicious, classic Russian River Pinot Noir; we hope you enjoy it.
